Frequently Asked Questions
Are you accepting new clients?
I currently have limited availability for new clients.. Please call or email to set up an appointment or to inquire into my current availability.
Are you currently seeing clients in person?
Yes. I offer both in-person and telehealth video appointments.
Do you take insurance?
I am currently in-network with Aetna, Oscar, Oxford, and UnitedHealthcare
I also accept private pay (out of pocket), and I am also an out-of-network provider. Many insurance companies offer out-of-network coverage and will reimburse you for a portion of the cost of our sessions. I can provide you with a superbill (an invoice that lists the dates and codes of services rendered) on a monthly basis for you to submit to your insurance, if you wish to use your insurance for therapy. Please check with your insurance company to inquire into what mental health out-of-network coverage your plan may have.
Why private pay?
Paying for therapy out-of-pocket (private pay) helps guarantee privacy and confidentiality. When insurance is used, certain types of information (such as diagnosis, types of services received, and prognosis) have to be disclosed to your insurance company (with your consent) in order to verify coverage and process claims. With private pay, your information remains completely confidential (with the exceptions to confidentiality such as the disclosure of immediate harm to self or others).
With private pay, your records of therapy will not exist in the Medical Information Bureau, meaning that your insurance premiums and life insurance policies will not increase (having your mental health diagnosis and treatments on record with your insurance company can sometimes compromise future insurance)
Furthermore, when paying for therapy out-of-pocket, you are able to choose the focus, duration, and frequency of therapy. Often times, insurance companies dictate the amount of sessions and can get in the way of you receiving the type of therapy you need and desire. With private pay, you can choose the provider who is right for you and have more say in your mental health treatment
Insurance policies can change frequently. With private pay, you don’t have to worry if your provider remains in-network with your insurance and whether or not your insurance will continue to cover your treatment

What does a phone consultation consist of?
A phone consultation is a 15 minute appointment over the phone. During the appointment, we will discuss your current struggles and your therapeutic needs. I will introduce myself, and together we will determine if I am the right fit for you. If it is decided that you would benefit from different services than what I am able to offer, I will provide you with potential referral options.
What does an intake appointment involve?
An intake appointment is a 60 minute initial appointment that we will schedule following the phone consultation if we decide to work together. During the intake appointment, I will gather more extensive information about you and your presenting concerns. I like to use this time to really get to know you. I will share my insights with you, and together we can talk about where to go from here.
How long are regular therapy sessions?
Regular individual therapy appointments are 45 minutes long. I offer weekly or bi-weekly appointments, based on what we determine is the best fit for you.
